Vicky Karan is a lifelong Surrey resident, public servant and passionate advocate for strong, inclusive public education. He believes schools should be places where every child feels safe, valued and connected, and where every family knows their voice matters.

Growing up in Surrey, Vicky experienced the strength that comes from living in a diverse community. Those experiences shaped his belief that public education should reflect the communities it serves by creating welcoming environments where every student has the opportunity to belong and succeed.

Vicky currently works as a Project Coordinator in Engineering with the City of Richmond, where he helps deliver complex projects through collaboration, planning and accountability. He also serves as Treasurer for CUPE Local 718, bringing strong financial oversight, transparency and responsible decision-making to his leadership.

He believes trustees have an important responsibility to listen carefully, build trust and make decisions that put students first. Vicky is committed to working alongside families, teachers, support staff and community partners to ensure Surrey continues advocating for well-resourced schools, safe learning environments and opportunities for every child to reach their potential.

As a member of the Our Surrey team, Vicky believes strong schools are built through collaboration, accountability and a shared commitment to students. He is ready to bring thoughtful leadership, sound financial stewardship and a community-first perspective to Surrey's Board of Education.
